Berlin is always worth visiting! The city offers so many different opportunities that even as a solo traveler, you’ll experience a lot and never get bored! And the best part: True to the city’s self-proclaimed motto, “Poor but sexy,” accommodation in Berlin doesn’t have to be expensive. Our guest Timo tells you how he found his perfect accommodation in Berlin.
Best Hostels in Berlin for Solo Travelers
Just getting out and experiencing something new: I had been planning that for a long time. One city that had always appealed to me was Berlin. The cultural diversity and unique charm of the city had always magically drawn me in. So, just pack my best friends and off we go! Or so I thought.
To my surprise, my friends weren’t particularly enthusiastic about the idea. But that wasn’t going to stop me. True to the motto: “You’re crazy, my child, you must go to Berlin,” I decided to simply travel to Berlin as a solo traveler. Besides planning the itinerary, I naturally had to find suitable accommodation first. Since my travel budget wasn’t very generous, I decided to look for a good hostel. My criteria weren’t particularly demanding:
- It should be as centrally located as possible.
- My accommodation shouldn’t break my travel budget.
- Booking should be as uncomplicated and flexible as possible.
My Tip for Solo Travelers: EastSeven Berlin
Finding the right accommodation in Berlin with my actually very manageable requirements wasn’t easy at all. But luckily, I got a hot tip from a good friend: the EastSeven Hostel in Berlin. So I quickly went to the website and booked a room.
A few days later, the time had come: my trip to the capital finally began. As soon as I arrived at my accommodation for the next few days, I was warmly welcomed. Here I quickly realized why Berlin is described as cosmopolitan and international. At the hostel, I met guests from many different countries.
For the first day, I had planned a typical tourist route in Berlin: first to the Brandenburg Gate and a photo in front of the Reichstag, then to Alexanderplatz and up the TV Tower, and finally to see the East Side Gallery along the former Berlin Wall. Luckily, I could easily reach all these destinations from my hostel. For my first day in the city, that was enough, and I wanted to rest at the hostel in the evening.
Here, the next positive surprise awaited me: on my first day at the hostel, one of EastSeven’s weekly community evenings took place. So, my evening of shared grilling with the other residents in the small lounge garden turned out differently than expected, but it was all the more enjoyable.
